League
Llanedeyrn 7 Radyr Rangers 1
Dan(3), Jon(3) & Luke T
We started our final junior campaign with a fine victory over newly promoted Radyr.
We were missing 5 regulars today and both our registered keepers were unavailable so Shaun volunteered to have a go in goals.
The first 20-25 minutes we played lots of nice football but couldn't find a way past Radyr's strong & stubborn back 5. Eventually Dan scored from close range following good work from Jon, minutes later the same 2 combined and Dan again finished from no more than 2 yards. We made it 3 before the break when Jon volleyed in from a tight angle.
The 2nd half started quietly and both teams seemed tired. Radyr enjoyed some good possession and came close with a couple of strikes. We kept our shape and moved the ball around swiftly and eventually a smart one-two involving Luke & Jon saw Joh tap in past the keeper. Radyr, to their credit, didn't give up and managed a goal back when a far post header was deemed to have crossed the goal-line.
We stepped up the pressure and both Dan & Jon completed their hat-tricks and Luke finished off the scoring with a fine solo effort.
It was a pleasing performance today that saw our back 4 stay strong & disciplined throughout, our front 2 of Dan & Luke were constant nuisances to our opponents and the midfield linked up well with some tidy touches.
Man of the Match = Shaun for his goalkeeping exploits and a solid defensive performance once he and captain Tom had swapped roles.
Well done to all 12 that played well on a difficult pitch.

Pre season Friendly
Trowbridge 1 Llanedeyrn 10
O.G, Dan, James, Luke T,Jon (3),Keiran, Ben & Shaun
We completed our pre season matches with a comprehensive victory over Trowbridge on the slippery St Mellons pitch.
We started very well and found ourselves 3 up within 5 minutes. After that we were fairly comfortable even though Trowbridge did throw bodies forward looking for a way back, they managed a goal after a decent strike into the top corner of Brooksy's net. We quickly went down the other end and Luke stooped to head in a Jon cross.
The 2nd half saw us play some neat football and keep our shape and we added to our tally with a further 6 goals, which saw Jon hit a hat-trick and Shaun score his first for the club as well as Keiran & Ben both scoring from close range.
Tonight was a good work out against determined opposition who never gave up despite being 3 down so early.
Our summer has seen us unbeaten and gaining in confidence. Competition for places is strong!

Pre-season friendly
Llanrumney 2 Llanedeyrn 3
O.G(although Callum wishes to claim it!), Dan & John
We continued our pre-season preparations with a hard fought victory over Llanrumney.
On a difficult evening in driving rain and with a fast, skiddy surface, we did well by getting the ball down and trying to play.
Our squad is looking better than ever and competion for places is fierce.
Llanrumney put a good performance tonight and scored 2 stunning goals, but I always thought we had goals in us and their keeper was the busiest.
Dan & John both took their goals well and there were decent performances from Burnsy, Arron & Callum.
A special thankyou to Brooksy who played in goals tonight (and he only came to watch!!)
Man of the Match = Luke M who was solid throughout and is making the left back position his own.

Pre-season friendly
Llanedeyrn 5 Abertillery 2 Luke T(2), John(2) & Tom
We started our preparations for our final year of junior football with an impressive victory over our friends from Abertillery.
New signings Luke T, Luke M, John, Shaun & Burnsy all played their parts today and are gelling very quickly with our lads from last season.
We enjoyed plenty of possession today and were worthy winners against a bigger, more physical side.
We scored some well worked goals with Luke T & John both helping themselves to a brace, the pick of the goals was Tom racing onto a fine through ball from Callum, before unleashing a powerful drive into the corner.
We were missing Mo & Ben today but all 15 boys have given me much to think about in the forthcoming weeks. We have trained well lately and our hard worked showed with this performance.
Man of the Match = John
